Good Afternoon Nighthawk Families,

The building has been much quieter this week as students finished regular classes and began writing exams, completing re-assessments, and engaging in credit recovery. Diploma exams will continue in the upcoming week. Please note that with exams next week, no Nighthawk News will be sent out on Friday, January 24.  Semester two classes will begin on Tuesday, January 28. Below, I have outlined the important information for this upcoming week.

Administration 24 Hour Parking

  • There are five parking spots, in visitor parking, labeled as 24 hour reserved parking for Administration
  • Please do not park in these spots, as admin need access throughout the day and on weekends
  • These spots are especially essential during evening and weekend events, such as tournaments

Grad Yearbook Photos

  • There are 109 Grade 12 students who have not gotten a grad photo taken
  • There will be a free sitting on January 30 for these students
  • Students will do a quick cap and gown photo to ensure uniformity in the yearbook
  • Students will be called down alphabetically by last name to the office to have their photo taken

Spain In-Person Student Exchange Program (2025-2026)

This unique program is facilitated by Alberta Education’s Student Exchange Programs. Students from Alberta are paired with students from the Spanish Autonomous Communities of Castilla y León and Asturias. Taking place during one Alberta school year, paired students will attend school together in the same location at the same time for 10 weeks each.

Student Fees and Graduation

Preparations are being made for our very first graduating class and commencement. The graduation ceremony will take place from 9am-12pm on May 28, 2025 at the BMO Centre. The evening reception will be held on the same day and location from 7-11pm. In order to participate in the ceremony, students must have 75 credits at the end of Semester 1 and have all of their fees paid. In February, administration will post a graduation list that will confirm which students have met these criteria. Students with outstanding fees will be asked to create a plan with the business office to ensure that their fees are fully paid before they are added to the graduation list. In anticipation of this date, please log in to your MyCBE account to ensure that your account is up to date.
