Celebrations 

Last Saturday North Trail hosted and won the debate provincials! Congratulations to our Senior Beginner team, Jaiya Gill and Sarah Akkad, for winning this year’s Debate Tournament. A big shout out also goes out to Wilson & Ayesha who placed 8th overall! Thank you, as well, to all those who volunteered. 

Activities in the Building 

ACA Jazz Night 

This Thursday the Afro Caribbean Association will be hosting a jazz night. In addition to some live jazz music played by students, there will also be spoken word poetry, and food available for purchase, provided by the Culinary students. The event will be from 5:30-8:00pm in the Moyis. 

Leadership Spring Festival 

Leadership is hosting their Spring Festival from April 14– 25. Check out the list below and get ready to participate in our activities and dress up days! Pick up your Bingo Card on Monday in the Leadership Hub, and get it stamped for a chance to win a free cookie a week until the end of school! 

Monday, April 14: Bunny Jump Contest – Head to the main gym to take part in the contest. 

Tuesday, April 15: Western Day – Dress in your best Western outfit. 

Wednesday, April 16: Spring themed Kahoot in the Moyis. 

Thursday, April 17: Adam Sandler Day - baggy shorts, baggy hoodie, try your best to out dress Adam Sandler. 

Tuesday, April 22: Rhyme Without Reason - dress up as things that rhyme but make no sense!  

Wednesday, April 23: Spring Carnival in the Main Gym - snacks for purchase, games, and music. Prizes to be won! 

Thursday, April 24: School Wide Rock Paper Scissors Contest – Buy a set of beads for a $1 and see how many you can win from others! 

Friday, April 25: Pep Rally. Tropical Theme – dress in your best Tropical Outfits. Modified schedule to follow. 

General Information 

Graduation Details (Commencement Ceremony) 

Our first NTHS Graduation is only weeks away, and we are getting excited to celebrate with our Nighthawks families! Our 2025 graduation events are taking place on Wednesday May 28, at the BMO Centre. The commencement ceremony will take place from 9am-12am. Each graduating student will be offered up to 5 tickets. These tickets are included in the $75 graduation fee that has been applied to their MyCBE account. Ticket distribution for the ceremony will take place during Trail Time.  

Graduation Details (Evening Reception) 

The evening reception will take place from 6:30pm-11:00pm at BMO Centre and will include a dessert buffet and a program presentation with dance to follow. Families can purchase up to 3 tickets at $65 each (the graduate needs to purchase a ticket) for the reception. Ticket sales begin on April 17 at 8:00am and will be open until April 30. If we can release more tickets after the first round of sales, we will reopen ticket sales on May 7 – this will depend on the total number of tickets sold and the capacity of the venue. 

 On April 16 in Trail Time students will receive detailed information about grad – please make sure your child attends this class. 

Navigating Social Media and Teens | Community Education Services & Recovery Alberta Live Presentation

The world of social media is constantly changing, and it can be hard to keep up. This session will look at some of the most popular platforms among Canadian youth and how to protect privacy and keep everyone safe. We will also discuss the effects of social media use on teen mental health and how to promote healthy social media habits in a digital world. 

Presenters include: Ashley Meagher, Certified Child & Youth Care Counsellor, Success Coach & Jo Burley BCST, NPML, Success Coach, Rockyview School Division, MHCB Stepping. 

Girls Talk Tech! 

Girls Talk Tech is developed by a group of individuals at ConocoPhilips working in technology roles who are passionate about educating, encouraging, and empowering young women to embrace STEM. Students get the opportunity to learn about different career paths, education, and get in-depth knowledge about STEM careers.  

We are excited to have them join us for a presentation!  Any female, STEM interested students are encouraged to attend.  Feel free to bring your lunch, or sign up with Ms. Ho, so you will be able to have some pizza supplied by our presenters!  Thank you Ms. Ho for organizing this opportunity for our students.
