Good Afternoon Nighthawk Families

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Spring Showcase, which featured a collaboration between Fine and Performing Arts, CTS, and Global Languages. Incredible student work from a variety of programs were featured in the Moyis, while there were some stellar performances from our dance, drama, and band programs in the theatre. As we continue to build our programs, we appreciate your ongoing support.

Next week, there will also be a variety of activities happening in the building, as part of Culture Week. Please see below for a detailed description of this week's activities and have a great May long weekend!

Upcoming Activities

Culture Week at NTHS: May 20–23

We’re excited to celebrate Culture Week at NTHS with a variety of student-led events that highlight the rich diversity within our school community. Here is what students and  families can look forward to:

  • Tuesday, May 20 – Food Trucks
Students are organizing food trucks representing different continents to celebrate culture and identity through food. Trucks will be available during lunch for students and staff to purchase meals.
  • Wednesday, May 21 – Cultural Fair
A Cultural Fair will take place in the Moyis during lunch, featuring student-created booths with cultural displays, interactive activities like henna and calligraphy, and opportunities to learn about global traditions.
  • Thursday, May 22 – Talent Show
Our students will showcase their talents in a lunchtime Talent Show in the main gym, beginning with a grand march of students in traditional attire.
  • Friday, May 23 – Music Medley & Potluck!
The week wraps up with an after-school potluck hosted by the Afro-Caribbean Association and the Asian Cultural Club on the NTHS soccer field—everyone is welcome! A music medley featuring songs from around the world will also be played throughout the day.

Throughout the week, students and staff are encouraged to wear cultural or traditional clothing, national colors, or any attire that represents their heritage. We’re looking forward to a fun and meaningful week of learning and celebration!

Grad Tickets and Gown Distribution

Ceremony tickets will be sent home with students on Wednesday. It is important that ALL Grade 12 students attend Trail Time on Wednesday to get their tickets and to receive instructions about grad. Grad regalia will be handed out at the grad rehearsal on Monday, May 26 in the afternoon. All Grade 12s will need to attend.

Advanced Placement Courses and Exams

Our advanced placement students completed their AP exams for this school year! Congratulations for engaging in these challenging experiences and following their passions! We would like to celebrate their efforts by hosting a lunch for them on Thursday, May 22. 2025.  All students who wrote an AP exam in the last two weeks and their AP teachers  are cordially invited  (location to be announced).
