School Policy Reminders
School Hours
Our school is a busy place! Many activities occur in the morning before classes and after school as well. Please be aware that students must be under the direct supervision of a staff member to be at school beyond certain hours.
7:00 am | Students may enter the building and take part in activities such as athletic practices but must be under a staff member's direct supervision. |
8:15 am | Students are welcome in the building even while not directly supervised. Also, tutorials can be accessed. |
9:00 am – 3:30 pm (1:30 pm Fridays) | Classes are in session |
3:30 pm – 5:00 pm | Students are welcome in the building. They may be taking part in any of these activities: club meetings, athletic practices, games and tournaments, accessing teachers for help, completing assessments in the test center etc. |
5:00 pm | Students must be under direct staff member supervision to remain in the building. Access to the building is restricted. Gates are lowered in a number of areas of the building. Students may not remain in the building unless directly supervised. |
6:00 – 11:00 pm | NTHS may be booked by community agencies in addition to supervised activities for our students. |
Student Drop-off and Pick-up
Here are a few suggestions to help us with the safety of our students and all community members during drop-off and pick-up.
- Consider dropping off and picking up your student outside of peak hours. We have observed that drop off times before 8:30 am and pick up times after 4:00 pm (Mon – Thurs.) and after 2:00 pm (Fridays) are much less busy and less stressful for all involved.
- Use Coventry Hills Way NE to meet your student. This road is behind North Trail High School on the far side of our sports fields. It is connected with a pathway to our school and takes roughly 3 minutes to walk.
- Unfortunately, we do not have a lot of spaces where parents can wait for their student. It is therefore very important to arrive at a time when your student is ready for pick up. If you arrive sooner, there are not many places where you can wait for your student.
- When staff are out to help with pedestrian safety and traffic flow, please follow their directions.
- You are encouraged to share these suggestions with others picking up your student on occasion.
