Good Afternoon Families,

I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who attended Meet the Teacher Night last night. We had an excellent turn out. It also warmed our hearts to see our Leadership Students' Nighthawk pride on full display, as they supported families by providing information and helping with navigation throughout the building.

September has been a busy month, and the staff and students have accomplished so much in building connections, establishing routines, and getting clubs, activities, and sports up and running. As September comes to a close, we would like to draw your attention to a few important items.

Truth and Reconciliation Day

Monday is Truth and Reconciliation Day. As such, there will be no school for students. As stated on the official website of the government of Alberta, "On September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Canadians learn, recognize and reflect upon the history and ongoing legacy of residential schools, the trauma experienced by many, and the hope for a healthy future. The day emphasizes the ongoing need for reconciliation, and building and strengthening relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people". The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee at North Trail have compiled a list of activities/events that will be happening in and around Calgary, in honour of Truth and Reconciliation Day. ELAA Student Fair

On Tuesday, we will be hosting an Alberta post-secondary fair with representatives from up to 18 different colleges and universities in attendance. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to discover what programs these institutions have to offer.  The fair will be setup in the Moyis from 9:30-11:30am. All students are welcome to attend. To prevent overcrowding, each grade will be in attendance at different times. Please see the schedule below, along with organizations that will be present. Due to the number of outside institutions present, there will be limited parking available to students on Tuesday.

Student Parking Update

  • Reminder:  For your parking application to be considered, please make sure you have paid your school fees for this semester.
  • Our business manager will apply the $45 parking fee to your account once the parking application has been accepted and school fees are paid for the semester.
  • Once you see this fee applied to your account, please pay it and then send your child to the front office to pick up their parking pass.  This will happen during the first or second week of October.
  • Students will be able to park in our student lot without a parking pass, first come, first served, until October 4. 2024.
  • Please remind students that they cannot park in staff parking.  This has recently become a problem where teachers could not return to their assigned parking spot after leaving the building for an appointment.
